Have you visited The Shepard's Mill in Phillipsburg? While The Shepard's Mill officially opened in 2004, the roots of the business rest securely in Finland where Sally Brandon spent 6 months as an International 4-H Youth Exchange (IFYE). During that life changing trip, Sally learned to weave in the community weaving houses there and discovered a lifelong passion for creating cloth.
Currently, with a team of 4 full-time, one part-time and 2 project employees, the mill processes 150 to 200 pounds of fiber in a 5-day-work-week - much of that in 5 to 10 pound increments or less. From alpaca to yak, The Shepard's Mill creates exquisite yarns from the nation's finest natural fibers. They are Kansas' first and the country's most versatile fiber processing facility. They custom process fiber from 42 states.
They are developing their own signature line of woven items and yarns. They also offer classes in most all fiber arts. Call or visit them (in person, at their website or Facebook) for a schedule of classes. You can find them at 839 Third Street, Phillipsburg, Kansas. 785-543-3128 www.KansasFiber.com email: email@example.com
